Mumbai, India – In a gesture echoing the cultural significance of the Ayodhya Ram Mandir ‘Pran Pratishtha’ ceremony, Reliance Industries, under the leadership of billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has declared a nationwide holiday for all its offices on Monday, January 22. This announcement comes hot on the heels of the company revealing its robust October–December quarter results for the fiscal year 2023–2024 (Q3FY24).
Reliance Industries reported an impressive 11% surge in consolidated net profit, reaching ₹19,641 crore, compared to ₹17,706 crore in the corresponding period last year. The third quarter of the fiscal year witnessed a notable 3.2% year-on-year increase in gross revenue, totaling ₹2,48,160 crore. This growth was predominantly fueled by the sustained momentum in the consumer businesses.
The decision to observe a holiday aligns with the broader state-level directives, as the Maharashtra government had previously declared January 22 as a public holiday. This move follows similar announcements by several BJP-ruled states, including Chhattisgarh, Goa, Uttar Pradesh, and Madhya Pradesh. The Maharashtra government, through the general administration department, officially issued a notification confirming the public holiday.
The synchronized declaration of holidays by both the private sector giant and state governments reflects the collective sentiment of embracing the historic moment of the Ram Mandir Inauguration.
