Rahul Gandhi Takes on PM Modi for Silence on Manipur Violence

Pune: In a fiery speech during his first session as a reinstated Member of Parliament, Rahul Gandhi lashed out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his silence on the escalating violence in Manipur. Speaking in the Lok Sabha on the second day of the no-confidence motion, Gandhi criticized the government’s inaction and called for an end to the ongoing incidents of violence and rape in the state.

Opposition parties, led by the Congress, have vociferously condemned the Modi government and unequivocally supported the no-confidence motion. The opposition’s criticism revolves around the government’s handling of the violent incidents and sexual assaults that have rocked Manipur.

During his speech, Rahul Gandhi pointedly questioned, “Why is Prime Minister Narendra Modi choosing to remain silent while Manipur is facing a wave of violence and sexual assault? It’s disheartening that leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appear to be indifferent to the turmoil in Manipur.” He further stated, “We must put an end to this cycle of violence, or we risk causing more harm to our beloved country.”

Gandhi went on to criticize PM Modi for allegedly ignoring the concerns of the people of Manipur and only paying heed to a select group of individuals. While the Indian Army could potentially play a significant role in restoring peace to Manipur, Gandhi accused Modi of neglecting to take necessary actions for establishing peace in the state. Drawing a parallel between Raavan and Modi, Gandhi cautioned that Modi’s arrogance could prove to be his downfall, much like Raavan’s.

Gandhi used the analogy to highlight that Raavan wasn’t defeated by Lord Ram, but rather by his own hubris. Similarly, Gandhi argued that Modi’s actions, including what he characterized as inciting violence in various states like Haryana, were deliberate and harmful.

In a stern warning to Prime Minister Modi, Rahul Gandhi cautioned that if the violence is not curbed, the people will hold him accountable. On the other hand, PM Modi responded to the motion of no-confidence brought forward by the Congress-led India alliance, assuring BJP MPs that they need not worry as they are poised for success in the debate. PM Modi is scheduled to address the Lok Sabha on August 10th regarding the no-confidence motion.
