In a historic stride towards revolutionizing India’s railway landscape, Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated and dedicated an impressive array of approximately 2,000 railway infrastructure projects, collectively valued at ₹41,000 crore. The momentous occasion, marked by a virtual event, emphasized the government’s unwavering commitment to modernizing the nation’s rail network.

Key Highlights:

  1. Amrit Bharat Station Scheme:
    • PM Modi laid the foundation stone for the redevelopment of 553 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat scheme, aiming to create rooftop plazas and city centers, enhancing the travel experience for passengers.
  2. Road Overbridges and Underbridges:
    • Inauguration of the foundation stone for nearly 1,500 road overbridges and underbridges across various states, addressing congestion, improving safety, and enhancing rail travel efficiency.
  3. Amrit Bharat Stations’ Redevelopment:
    • Redevelopment of Amrit Bharat stations across 27 states and Union Territories, exceeding ₹19,000 crores, transforming them into modern city centers with amenities like roof plazas, intermodal connectivity, and more.
  4. Environmentally Friendly Design:
    • The redeveloped stations will prioritize environmental and Divyang (differently-abled) friendliness, drawing inspiration from local culture, heritage, and aesthetics.
  5. Gurugram Railway Station Upgrade:
    • Initiation of the Gurugram railway station’s upgrade in the first phase, with an estimated cost of ₹295 crores, focusing on modernizing facilities for future passenger footfall.
  6. Gomti Nagar Station Inauguration:
    • Inauguration of the redeveloped Gomti Nagar station in Uttar Pradesh, completed at a cost of around ₹385 crores, featuring segregated arrival and departure facilities, a centrally air-conditioned environment, and modern passenger amenities.

This historic day underscores the government’s dedication to transforming and modernizing railway infrastructure, aiming to elevate the travel experience and connectivity for citizens across India.
