Paytm FASTag Recharging to Cease after March 15: Here’s How to Get a New One

In a recent development, Paytm Payments Bank, the banking arm associated with Paytm, has been instructed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to halt its operations. This directive includes the suspension of new deposits into its accounts and its widely used digital wallet, effective from February 29th. However, the RBI has extended this deadline to March 15th.

As of March 15th, Paytm FASTag users will no longer be able to make deposits, credit transactions, or top-ups in their accounts, prepaid instruments, wallets, FASTags, National Common Mobility Cards, etc., in accordance with the RBI’s instructions.

Existing Paytm FASTags can still be utilized to pay tolls with the current balance. However, it’s essential to note that no additional top-ups will be possible after March 15th.

If you wish to deactivate your Paytm FASTag, you have two convenient options:

  1. Call 1800-120-4210 and provide your registered mobile number along with the Vehicle Registration Number (VRN) or the Tag ID. A Paytm customer support agent will guide you through the process of closing your FASTag.
  2. Alternatively, open the Paytm app, navigate to your profile, select “Help & Support,” then proceed to “Banking Services & Payments” > “FASTag.” Click on “Chat with us” and request the executive to deactivate your account.

For those looking to purchase a new FASTag online, follow these steps:

  1. Download the “My FASTag” app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
  2. Click on “Buy FASTag” to access the e-commerce link.
  3. Complete the purchase, and the FASTag will be delivered to your provided address.

To activate your new FASTag online:

  1. Open the “My FASTag” app and select “Activate FASTag.”
  2. Choose either Amazon or Flipkart as the e-commerce platform.
  3. Enter the FASTag ID or scan the QR code.
  4. Input your vehicle details, and your new FASTag will be successfully activated.

Remember that it is also possible to purchase a FASTag from other banks. However, having multiple FASTags for a single vehicle is not permitted, and only the latest FASTag linked to the vehicle will remain active.
