NTPC Achieves Milestone: Crosses 400 Billion Units Power Generation in FY24

NTPC, India’s leading state-owned power utility, has surpassed a significant milestone in the current fiscal year by generating over 400 billion units (BU) of electricity, as announced on Thursday.

In the preceding fiscal year, FY23, NTPC had recorded a total generation of 399.3 BU, highlighting a consistent trajectory of growth and efficiency in its power generation operations.

As per the latest statement released by the company, NTPC’s coal stations have maintained a robust plant loading factor (PLF), reaching an impressive 77.06 percent till March 13 of FY24.

Throughout the fiscal year, NTPC achieved notable milestones, including the highest single-day generation of 1,428 million units (MU) on September 1, 2023, showcasing its operational prowess and capacity.

With an installed capacity of 75.4 gigawatts (GW) and an additional 18 GW capacity, including 5 GW in renewables, currently under construction, NTPC remains at the forefront of India’s power generation landscape.

Looking towards the future, NTPC has reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability and renewable energy transition. The company aims to achieve a renewable energy capacity of 60 GW by 2032, underscoring its dedication to green energy initiatives and reducing carbon footprint.

In addition to its core operations, NTPC has diversified its portfolio by venturing into various new business segments, such as e-mobility, waste-to-energy, and green hydrogen solutions. The company has also actively participated in bidding for power distribution projects in Union Territories, further expanding its footprint in the energy sector.

As India’s largest integrated power utility, NTPC plays a pivotal role in meeting the nation’s energy demands, contributing to approximately one-fourth of the country’s overall power requirement.
