NCERT Raises Alarm Over Rampant Piracy of School Syllabus Books

Unauthorized Reproduction Threatens Educational Integrity, Warns Apex Body

The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has issued a warning concerning the widespread piracy of school syllabus books, expressing deep concern over the unauthorized reproduction of their educational materials by private publishers.

As the foremost advisory body to the central government on school education matters, NCERT emphasized that any commercial use of their textbooks without prior authorization constitutes a violation of the Copyright Act of 1957.

Moreover, NCERT highlighted the potential risks associated with counterfeit textbooks circulating in the market, cautioning that such illicitly reproduced materials may contain inaccuracies and fail to meet the standards set forth by the National Curriculum Framework 2023.

In response to this pressing issue, NCERT has urged parents and students to refrain from purchasing fake books and to support legitimate sources. They underscored the importance of upholding quality standards in education and preserving the integrity of educational resources.

To address the rampant piracy, NCERT called upon individuals and organizations to abstain from engaging in illicit activities and to report any instances of piracy they encounter promptly.

In order to combat the proliferation of counterfeit textbooks effectively, NCERT has established an email reporting system at [email protected], encouraging people to report instances of piracy. This proactive measure aims to curb the circulation of pirated materials and safeguard the educational interests of students nationwide.
