Motivated by Dissent: The Ideological Influences Behind the Parliament Breach

In a dramatic turn of events, Lalit Jha, identified as the alleged mastermind behind the recent Parliament security breach, surrendered to the Kartavya Path Police station in Delhi on Thursday evening. The arrest follows a high-profile incident where individuals breached security, causing chaos in the Lok Sabha during Zero Hour.

Lalit Mohan Jha’s Surrender: Lalit Mohan Jha, a Kolkata-based teacher and resident, fled the scene after capturing a video of the breach. Evading authorities, he reached Nagaur in Rajasthan and spent a night at a hotel with friends. Realizing the police were searching for him, Jha returned to Delhi by bus and surrendered at the Kartavya Path Police station. The Delhi Police’s Special Cell has sought information from Neelaksh Aish, the founder of an NGO, as Jha is reported to be associated with a Kolkata-based NGO.

Legal Proceedings: While Jha’s surrender led to his immediate arrest, Delhi’s Patiala House Court granted seven days of custodial remand for the other four accused: Sagar Sharma, Manoranjan D, Amol Shinde, and Neelam Devi. The police charged them under the stringent anti-terror law UAPA, along with sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). The court hearing revealed the incident as a well-planned attack on Parliament, with accusations of terrorism and attempting to incite fear.

Influence and Motivation: Influenced by revolutionary Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Jha and the other accused sought to draw attention to various issues, including the farmers’ protest, ethnic conflict in Manipur, and unemployment. All six joined a Bhagat Singh fan page on Facebook, highlighting their shared motivations. During interrogation, Amol revealed their dissatisfaction with prevailing issues, shedding light on their motivation behind the daring act.
