Manipur Government Cancels Curfew Relaxation in Imphal Districts, Impact on Essential Services

Manipur, India, 3rd August 2023: The Manipur government has taken the decision to cancel the relaxation in curfew for both Imphal East and Imphal West districts. The order, which was issued by the District Magistrate’s office, revokes the curfew relaxation that was originally scheduled from 5:00 am to 8:00 pm on August 3rd, and this decision comes into immediate effect.

In the latest notification, the government has clarified that individuals involved in essential services such as health workers, PHED (Public Health Engineering Department) personnel, municipal officials and staff, power department employees (MSPDCL/MSPCL), media personnel, and the functioning of courts will be exempted from any further imposition of curfew after the expiration of the previously mentioned relaxation period.

This decision may have an impact on essential services in the region, and authorities are closely monitoring the situation to ensure the smooth functioning of crucial services during the curfew period. It remains to be seen how this move will affect the daily lives of residents in the affected districts and whether there will be any further developments in the days to come.

The reasons behind the revocation of curfew relaxation have not been explicitly stated in the notification, and residents are urged to stay updated with official announcements from the government to stay informed about any changes or developments in the situation.
