IndiGo Faces Backlash as Passenger’s In-Flight Bhajan Performance Sparks Outrage

IndiGo Airlines is under scrutiny as a video of a passenger singing a bhajan and playing a dholak on board a flight went viral on February 6, 2023. The incident, occurring nearly three weeks after the inauguration of the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya, has ignited a wave of criticism on social media.

While the destination of the flight remains unconfirmed, the video captured passengers engaging in a collective rendition of “Raghu Patil Raghava Raja Ram,” with some joining in the musical moment and others recording the impromptu performance.

Netizens expressed their discontent in the comment section, with many directing their criticism towards IndiGo for allowing a passenger to bring a dholak inside the airplane. Comments ranged from labeling the situation as “turning an Indigo plane into a Borivali local” to questioning the airline’s failure to address the disturbance promptly.

One social media user, identifying as a flyer, remarked, “Paying a high cost to get a feel of traveling in a Mumbai Local train,” highlighting the unexpected and disruptive nature of the in-flight musical session.

Others condemned the airline for allowing such a disturbance, with one user stating, “It is not acceptable. Everyone pays for travel and deserves rest and sleep.”

As of now, IndiGo Airlines has not released an official statement regarding the incident.
