Indian Railways Cancels Over 300 Trains to Delhi Ahead of G20 Summit

In anticipation of the forthcoming G20 summit, the Indian Railways has taken the decision to cancel more than 300 trains to Delhi due to heightened security concerns. Passengers are urged to adjust their travel plans considering the dates and trains specified in the official announcement.

The Northern Railway has officially confirmed that the G20 summit is scheduled to be held in Delhi on September 9 and 10, attracting leaders from across the globe, including the United States President, Joe Biden.

Considering the high-profile nature of this event, stringent security arrangements have been implemented, leading to the closure of Delhi to the general public from midnight on September 7 until midnight on September 10. Consequently, schools and some offices in the region will also remain closed during this period.

To accommodate these security measures and ensure the safety and efficiency of transportation, the Railways has temporarily canceled certain train services, while others have been rerouted or had their stops modified.

A total of 207 trains bound for Delhi on September 9 and 10 have been temporarily canceled, encompassing well-known services such as the Taj Express, Sirsa Express, New Delhi-Jalandhar City Express, Intercity Express, Amritsar-New Delhi Express, Delhi-Pathankot Express, among others.

In addition to cancellations, the terminus for 15 trains has been relocated, impacting several others, including the Kranti Express, Swatantra Senani Express, and Gomti Express. Furthermore, 70 trains have been assigned an additional stop, and the routes of six trains have been altered.

In total, 30 trains have been diverted to facilitate the security arrangements. Passengers are strongly advised to refer to the official list of affected trains and make necessary adjustments to their travel plans, taking into account these temporary changes. The Indian Railways is committed to ensuring the smooth operation of train services during this crucial period.
