Ikea Expands Doorstep Deliveries to 62 More Districts, Enhances Accessibility in India

Swedish retail behemoth Ikea is gearing up for an extensive expansion in India by introducing doorstep deliveries to an additional 62 districts across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Telangana.

This strategic move is designed to serve cities and towns near Ikea’s existing large-format stores in Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Navi Mumbai, complementing the two city stores in Mumbai.

The expansion aligns with Ikea’s commitment to improving customer accessibility and adopting a comprehensive omnichannel strategy.

By leveraging the distribution capabilities of its physical stores, Ikea aims to efficiently fulfill online orders and address the increasing demand in these regions, as stated by Ikea India CEO Susanne Pulverer.

This expansion gains significance as it taps into emerging cities that are pivotal to the growing trend of online retail. Pulverer expressed enthusiasm about bringing the Ikea experience directly to the doorsteps of numerous customers in India.

Furthermore, as part of this expansion, Ikea emphasizes its dedication to sustainability by enhancing alternative fuel capabilities in its supply chain.

Currently, an impressive 72% of Ikea’s deliveries are conducted through electric vehicles, showcasing the company’s commitment to environmentally friendly practices.
