A preschool in Gandhidham, Kutch, has found itself at the center of a controversy following the circulation of a study page featuring a contentious statement about cow meat consumption.
The GD Goenka Toddler House faced backlash after a photo of the study material surfaced on social media, depicting a line suggesting that cow meat could be consumed.
The school, in response to parent protests, clarified that the statement was not intended to offend anyone. It explained that the syllabus, sourced from Pinterest, aimed to educate children about the importance of not consuming meat, rather than advocating for cow meat consumption.
While the district primary education officer stated that preschools are not under their purview, they have initiated an inquiry into the matter, documenting statements from parents and school officials to ascertain the context of the controversial statement.
According to the school principal, the objective behind including the line about cow meat was to emphasize the sanctity of all animals, particularly cows, which hold religious significance in Hindu culture.
