New Delhi, India – The Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) is set to bolster the knowledge and skills of police officers across the country through a specialized training initiative focused on the latest criminal laws. The Training of Trainers module, meticulously crafted by BPR&D, aims to equip police personnel with the expertise required to navigate and enforce the new legal framework effectively.

The comprehensive training programs, tailored for different levels of police personnel, have commenced at the national level. In a significant move towards accessibility, these programs have been integrated into the ‘Integrated Government Online Training’ (iGOT) portal. This integration ensures that police personnel at various levels can access and benefit from the training courses conveniently.

The BPR&D has extended its reach by sharing these training modules on new criminal laws with all States and Union Territories. The goal is to encourage the establishment of similar training programs at their respective Police Training Institutes, fostering a standardized and updated approach to law enforcement practices nationwide.

To further support the capacity building of police personnel and other stakeholders, the BPR&D has uploaded informative flyers on the new criminal laws on its official website (https://bprd.nic.in/). These resources serve as valuable references for individuals seeking a deeper understanding of the evolving legal landscape.

In a written response to a query in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Nityanand Rai, highlighted the government’s commitment to continuous improvement in the skills of law enforcement officers. He stated that the allocation of funds and resources for police personnel training, including specific training on new criminal laws, is an ongoing process, with provisions made within the annual budget.
