Gold Worth Rs 46.98 Lakhs Seized at Hyderabad Airport from Dubai Arriving Passenger

In a significant interception, the Hyderabad Customs Air Intelligence Unit at RGIA Shamshad achieved a notable success on September 16, 2023, thwarting an attempt to smuggle gold into the country.

The incident unfolded when a passenger arriving from Dubai on Flight No. EK524 was singled out for inspection based on passenger profiling. During the thorough examination of the individual, customs authorities made a startling discovery – concealed within the passenger’s rectum were four capsules containing a total of 770 grams of gold. The estimated value of this concealed gold haul is a staggering Rs. 46.98 lakhs.

Customs officials acted promptly, successfully seizing the illicitly transported gold. This incident underscores the relentless efforts of airport authorities to combat illegal smuggling activities and ensure the integrity of the country’s borders.
