French President Emmanuel Macron to Grace Republic Day as Chief Guest

In a significant diplomatic move, French President Emmanuel Macron has been invited to be the chief guest at India’s Republic Day celebrations on January 26. The invitation reflects the deepening bonds between India and France, particularly in crucial areas such as defence, security, clean energy, trade, and new technologies.

The Republic Day parade will witness the participation of a contingent from the French Army, highlighting the collaborative spirit between the two nations. Macron’s visit to India is part of a 2-day tour, with scheduled stops in Delhi and Jaipur. Accompanying him will be a delegation comprising ministers, CEOs, and prominent figures from the cultural and scientific sectors.

The visit kicks off in Jaipur on January 25, where a grand roadshow is planned alongside Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The itinerary includes a bilateral meeting between Macron and Modi, during which major announcements in defence and strategic sectors are anticipated.

India and France have demonstrated a shared commitment to collaborative efforts in the co-development and co-production of advanced defence technologies, extending their cooperation for the benefit of third countries.

Earlier in the year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had the honor of being the Guest of Honour at the Bastille Day parade in Paris on July 14, underscoring the mutual respect and camaraderie between the two nations.
