Ensuring Devotee Safety: Tirupati Unveils Enhanced Safety Measures on Tirumala Trek Pathway

In a proactive move to prioritize the safety of devotees trekking to Tirumala, AV Dharma Reddy, Executive Officer of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), assured the public on Monday that comprehensive safety measures have been implemented along the footpath to Tirumala.

Joint Committee Recommendations and Government Report:

After a crucial meeting with forest officials, Reddy revealed that a joint committee, led by the Principal Chief Conservator of Forests (Wildlife) and the State Chief Wildlife Warden, submitted a comprehensive report to the government. The report recommends both long and short-term measures to enhance the safety of devotees during the trek.

Implementation of Short-Term Measures:

TTD is already implementing several short-term measures to address immediate safety concerns. These measures aim to create a safer environment for devotees undertaking the pilgrimage.

Future Safety Enhancements:

Discussions during the meeting also revolved around the implementation of additional safety measures, including the installation of bio-fencing, aerial walkways, and the construction of overpasses and underpasses. The TTD is actively identifying suitable locations for building structures that contribute to the overall safety of the trek pathway.

Collaboration with Wildlife Institute:

To ensure optimal safety measures, the TTD is reaching out to the Wildlife Institute of India in Dehradun. The institute will be asked to provide necessary designs for the proposed safety structures, including bio-fencing and walkways.

Allocation of Funds for Monitoring Infrastructure:

In a significant move, the Tirupati District Forest Officer (DFO) has been directed to utilize the ₹3.75 crore funds provided by the TTD to set up monitoring infrastructure along the trek path. This includes the installation of camera traps, view lines, outposts, and necessary monitoring cells to enhance safety and surveillance.

The TTD’s commitment to prioritizing devotee safety underscores its dedication to providing a secure and serene pilgrimage experience.
