The Universal Postal Union (UPU), under the Department of Posts, is set to host the International Letter Writing Competition for young people in Pune for the year 2024. This annual competition encourages participants aged 9-15 to express their thoughts on a given subject through the art of letter writing.
The theme for this year’s competition is inspired by the UPU’s rich history, with the organization celebrating its 150th anniversary. Participants are invited to reflect on the changes the world has undergone over the past eight generations and are tasked with writing a letter to future generations about the world they hope they inherit.
To participate, young minds can submit their letters addressed to the Director, Mumbai GPO, Maharashtra & Goa Circle, Mumbai. If shortlisted, participants become eligible for cash awards at the Circle level, followed by medals, certificates, and other prizes at the Directorate and International levels.

- Intention Declaration Deadline: 23.02.2024
- District Level Competition: 03.03.2024
- School-Organized Competition: 02.03.2024
- Entries Submission Deadline: 20.03.2024
How to Apply: Aspiring participants should submit their applications, bilingual in English and Hindi, on plain paper following the prescribed format. The application must be accompanied by three passport-size photographs.
Selection Procedure: The top three entries at the Circle level will receive prizes and advance to the National level. The best entry at the National level will then represent India in the International competition.

- First Prize: Rs. 25,000/- & a certificate
- Second Prize: Rs. 10,000/- & a certificate
- Third Prize: Rs. 5,000/- & a certificate
Prizes at National Level:
- First Prize: Rs. 50,000/- & a certificate
- Second Prize: Rs. 25,000/- & a certificate
- Third Prize: Rs. 10,000/- & a certificate
International Level:
- Gold Medal & Certificate (First Prize)
- Silver Medal & Certificate (Second Prize)
- Bronze Medal & Certificate (Third Prize)
