In a groundbreaking initiative, the Gujarat government is all set to introduce India’s first-ever submarine tourism venture in Dwarka, allowing visitors to explore the marine life around Bet Dwarka, a small island off the coast of Dwarka city with mythological significance in the Hindu religion. Teaming up with Mazgaon Dock Limited (MDL), the state aims to offer an unprecedented underwater experience reminiscent of the submersible Titanic expedition.
The project, akin to the recent Titanic expedition that made global headlines, is focused on investigating the marine life around Bet Dwarka. The facility is expected to be operational before Diwali in 2024, providing tourists with the unique opportunity to plunge 100 meters below the surface in a submarine.
According to mythological texts, the location harbors a submerged city believed to have been created by Lord Krishna, adding an extra layer of intrigue to the underwater exploration.
The submarine, estimated to weigh around 35 tonnes, will be capable of accommodating 30 passengers. With 24 visitors seated in two rows, each provided with window seats, the design ensures an immersive and comfortable viewing experience of the underwater world.
Dwarka, already a magnet for tourists due to its religious significance, particularly the renowned Dwarkadhish Temple, is poised to become an even more enticing destination with this innovative addition to its tourism offerings.
