Delhi-Pune Vistara Flight Safely Returns to Delhi Airport Due to Windshield Crack

Pune, August 23, 2023: A Vistara flight traveling from Delhi to Pune was forced to return to the Delhi Airport shortly after takeoff due to a crack on its windshield. The incident occurred during the early hours of the morning, causing a temporary disruption for the passengers on board. The flight, identified as Vistara Flight UK 991, carried over 100 passengers and took off from Delhi Airport at approximately 5:20 am. Its intended arrival time at Pune Airport was scheduled for 7:50 am.

The unexpected crack on the windshield led to a decision by the flight’s pilot to turn the aircraft back to the departure airport as a precautionary measure. The safety of passengers and crew remained the foremost priority for the airline. The aircraft landed safely at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in Delhi. To ensure minimal inconvenience to passengers, Vistara promptly arranged for an alternative aircraft.

A spokesperson for Vistara provided reassurance to passengers and the public, stating, “Vistara Flight UK 991, flying from Delhi to Pune, encountered adverse weather soon after take-off, resulting in a crack in its windshield. As a precautionary step, the pilot decided to turn back and the aircraft was landed at the IGI Airport, Delhi. An alternative aircraft was immediately arranged. The inconvenience caused to consumers is deeply regretted. As always, safety of our customers and crew is most important to Vistara.”

The incident caused a brief period of turbulence that lasted for approximately 90 seconds, creating some concern among the passengers. However, the pilot’s swift response to the situation averted any potential danger.

Once the flight had safely returned to Delhi Airport, passengers were accommodated on an alternate flight to Pune, ensuring their journey continued with minimal disruption. It is worth noting that the professionalism and vigilance of the pilot were pivotal in preventing any major accident from occurring.
