CBI Sting Operation: Nashik PF Commissioner Nabbed in Rs 2 Lakh Bribery Scandal

In a major breakthrough, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended a Regional Provident Fund Commissioner, a PF officer, and an agent in Nashik, Maharashtra, in connection with a corruption case involving Rs 2 lakh. The arrests were made following a meticulous operation by CBI sleuths based on a complaint filed against the officials.

The individuals taken into custody are identified as Regional PF Commissioner Ganesh Arote, Enforcement Officer Ajay Ahuja, and agent B. S. Mangalkar. The trio was caught in a trap set by the CBI while accepting and giving a bribe. Subsequently, they were produced before a CBI Court in Nashik, which remanded them to custody until January 1, 2024.

According to the complaint, the two PF officers allegedly conspired with a private PF consultant to demand and accept a bribe of Rs 2 lakh for settling a PF-related matter concerning the complainant’s firm. The complaint further claimed that the bribe was to be handed over to the PF consultant.

The CBI conducted searches at seven locations in Nashik linked to the accused individuals. During the raids, the investigative agency recovered incriminating material, including cash, diaries containing details of illegal deals, and other pertinent items. A thorough investigation is currently underway, said CBI officials.
