With the 2024 Lok Sabha elections on the horizon, an opinion poll conducted by India TV-CNX indicates a favorable outcome for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA). The survey, conducted across 543 Lok Sabha constituencies from February 5 to 23, predicts that Prime Minister Narendra Modi could secure a third term.
Projection Numbers: BJP and NDA Lead
According to the poll results, the BJP-led NDA is projected to win a substantial 378 out of the total 543 seats. The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) bloc, representing the main opposition parties, is anticipated to secure 98 seats. The survey suggests that the BJP might individually win up to 335 seats, surpassing its 303-seat mark from the 2019 elections.
Key State-Wise Projections: BJP Dominance
The poll outlines the BJP’s potential dominance in various states. In Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh, the BJP is predicted to sweep all available seats. The survey also indicates positive outcomes for the party in Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Assam, Maharashtra, and West Bengal.
Southern States Scenario: BJP’s Presence Grows
In the southern states, the BJP is projected to win 22 out of 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka and secure 3 seats in Kerala. Tamil Nadu and Telangana might witness the BJP winning 4 and 5 seats, respectively. However, the ruling DMK in Tamil Nadu is predicted to secure 20 seats.
Opposition’s Stand: INDIA Bloc Trails
The INDIA bloc, an amalgamation of leading opposition parties formed last year, is expected to secure 98 seats, according to the survey. The Trinamool Congress, YSRCP, TDP, BJD, and independent candidates are predicted to win a combined total of 67 seats.
Previous Polls and BJP’s 2019 Performance
Earlier in February, an opinion poll conducted by the India Today group also hinted at a strong performance by the BJP-led NDA, projecting over 300 seats. In the 2019 general elections, the BJP secured 303 seats with a record 37.36% vote share, marking one of the party’s most significant victories.
