Beyond Tracks: Yatri Seva Anubandh Ushers in a New Era for Vande Bharat

Indian Railways is set to redefine the travel experience on Vande Bharat Express trains with the launch of a groundbreaking pilot project, Yatri Seva Anubandh (YSA). Covering six pairs of Vande Bharat Express trains in the Southern Railway, this initiative is designed to bring a qualitative shift in on-board services, offering passengers flight-like amenities and an enhanced journey.

Enhancements Under Yatri Seva Anubandh (YSA):

The Railway Board has outlined a comprehensive plan to elevate passenger services, encompassing a diverse range of improvements. These include an expanded food and beverage menu, concierge services, on-board entertainment options, and access to travel essentials and accessories. The focus is on shifting towards passenger-driven service outcomes, integrating a performance appraisal system and a comprehensive evaluation of provided services.

Concierge Amenities and Housekeeping Standards:

Under the YSA program, concierge amenities such as cab arrival/departure assistance, wheelchair support, and buggy drive assistance will be extended to passengers at the starting/ending stations. Each coach will be assigned a dedicated housekeeping staff member, trained under recognized institutions, ensuring cleanliness and passenger comfort.

Exclusive Food Menu and Ordering Options:

Passengers will have access to an exclusive food menu, featuring a variety of dishes sourced from ISO-certified base kitchens. The food packs, monitored by CCTV, will be easily identifiable through QR codes. The YSA program introduces the option to pre-order meals at the time of ticket booking or through the Yatri Seva app. Importantly, the food offerings will exclude beef and pork.

Elevating On-Board Services to International Standards:

With the implementation of YSA, Indian Railways aims to elevate on-board services to international standards, providing passengers with an experience akin to the aviation industry. The pilot project, initiated by the Southern Railway, underscores the commitment to enhancing passenger comfort and service quality.

Stringent Requirements for Catering Contractors:

To ensure high standards, catering contractors are mandated to have at least one individual with a degree or diploma in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or Catering for each train. The YSA Manager, with three years of hospitality experience, must also be a graduate. Tobacco products and alcoholic beverages will not be available for sale during the journey.

The Yatri Seva Anubandh pilot project is a bold step by Indian Railways to enhance passenger services and comfort on Vande Bharat Express trains. The initiative sets a new benchmark for on-board experiences, promising a delightful journey for passengers.
