Bengaluru Cafe Explosion: Suspect’s Ingenious Setup Unveiled in CCTV Footage

The recent explosion at Bengaluru’s Rameshwaram Cafe has taken a sinister turn as CCTV footage emerges, revealing the calculated actions of the suspect behind the attack. The suspect, donned in a mask, glasses, and a cap, was captured entering the cafe, ordering idlis, and discreetly leaving behind a bag containing an improvised explosive device (IED). The blast, which injured ten people, has prompted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to launch a comprehensive inquiry.

In response to the incident, stringent provisions of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Explosive Substances Act have been invoked by the police. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has called for cooperation and urged against politicizing the incident, emphasizing the need for a thorough investigation.

Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar provided key details on the sequence of events, stating that the explosion occurred an hour after the suspect, aged 28 to 30, left the cafe following the placement of the bag with the IED near a tree adjacent to the cafe. Another individual seen with the suspect has been detained and is currently undergoing questioning.

The Central Crime Branch (CCB) has assumed control of the investigation, deploying multiple teams to identify the accused. Contrary to initial beliefs that the blast originated in the kitchen, it was later confirmed to have occurred in the customer area. The suspect’s calculated actions, captured on CCTV, included purchasing a coupon for Rava idli, leaving behind a bag with an IED, and exiting the restaurant an hour before the explosion.
