Ayodhya’s Economic Surge: Exports Skyrocket Ahead of Ram Mandir Pran Pratishtha Ceremony

As Ayodhya prepares for the momentous Pran Pratishtha ceremony of the Ram temple on January 22, the holy city is not only witnessing a spiritual resurgence but also emerging as a robust economic powerhouse. Ayodhya’s economic journey has been marked by impressive investment commitments and a substantial surge in exports, setting the stage for a new era of prosperity.

At the 2023 Global Investor Summit in Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya secured a notable investment commitment of Rs 49,000 crore, reflecting the growing interest and confidence in the region’s economic potential. The forthcoming investments are poised to contribute significantly to Ayodhya’s development and growth.

Government sources reveal that Ayodhya experienced a remarkable 131 per cent surge in exports during the fiscal year 2022-23, amounting to Rs 254 crore across diverse sectors. This substantial increase, up from Rs 110 crore in the previous fiscal year, underlines Ayodhya’s economic resilience and progressive outlook.

Ayodhya Divisional Commissioner Gaurav Dayal expressed satisfaction with the city’s export performance, emphasizing its alignment with comprehensive development. Ayodhya has excelled across nine distinct sectors, surpassing previous export records and making significant contributions to various industries.

Noteworthy export items include coal, contributing Rs 90.61 crore, craft paper and paperboard with exports worth Rs 44.56 crore, Ayurvedic medicines (Rs 3.18 crore), parboiled rice (Rs 2.76 crore), and wood pulp boards (Rs 3.12 crore). The city’s diverse export portfolio reflects its commitment to economic diversification and sustained growth.

In addition to its economic achievements, Ayodhya is set to emerge as Uttar Pradesh’s first Solar City, embodying a harmonious blend of spirituality and sustainable energy initiatives. Spearheaded by the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Department (UPNEDA), this ambitious project includes the development of solar parks, solar-powered boats, street lights, and widespread adoption of solar energy in public transport.

Ayodhya’s commitment to sustainability is further demonstrated by the ongoing establishment of a 40 MW solar power plant spanning 165 acres, with a 10 MW plant already commissioned and the full capacity expected to be operational by March 2024. The city’s transformation into a Solar City aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a greener and more sustainable future.

As Ayodhya becomes a focal point for national attention with the ‘Pran Pratishtha’ consecration ceremony, its economic success and sustainability initiatives stand as models for comprehensive development. The city’s dedication to harnessing solar energy across diverse sectors showcases its resilience and adaptability, resonating with the global investor community.
