In a significant move towards a cleaner and debris-free Delhi, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal recently inaugurated a state-of-the-art recycling plant in Jahangirpuri. This innovative facility is designed to effectively manage the construction and demolition waste generated within the capital city. During the inauguration, Kejriwal stressed the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring the cleanliness and sustainability of Delhi.
The Cutting-Edge Recycling Plant
The newly inaugurated recycling plant boasts modern European technology, setting a high standard for eco-friendly waste management. One notable feature is its commitment to environmental preservation, with measures in place to eliminate noise pollution and prevent dust from dispersing into the atmosphere.
Currently, Delhi generates a staggering 6,500 tonnes of debris daily, highlighting the urgency of implementing efficient waste disposal solutions. The Jahangirpuri plant, with its impressive capacity to process 2,000 tonnes of debris per day, stands as a vital step in addressing this challenge. Notably, it marks the fourth recycling plant in Delhi, collectively capable of handling a daily disposal load of 5,000 tonnes. Kejriwal also unveiled plans for the construction of an additional plant with a capacity of one thousand tonnes and the expansion of the existing facility in Okhla.
Fighting Corruption for a Cleaner Delhi
During his address, Chief Minister Kejriwal also shed light on the remarkable reduction in corruption within the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) since the Aam Aadmi Party took office. Previously plagued by issues such as corruption and delayed employee salaries, the MCD has undergone positive changes under the new government’s leadership. Kejriwal acknowledged that the journey to comprehensive improvement would require time, but the reduction in corruption and timely salary disbursements are promising signs of progress.
A Collaborative Effort for a Cleaner Delhi
Kejriwal underscored the critical role of collective action in the pursuit of a cleaner Delhi and the eradication of corruption. To this end, the Municipal Corporation has launched a dedicated campaign, featuring the MCD-311 app, which efficiently resolves up to 90-95 percent of the issues reported through the application. Kejriwal emphasized that achieving the goal of a clean and corruption-free Delhi is a shared responsibility, requiring the active participation of the city’s two crore residents.
In summary, Arvind Kejriwal’s visionary leadership is steering Delhi toward a sustainable and debris-free future. The new recycling plant in Jahangirpuri, with its advanced technology and commitment to environmental preservation, signifies a significant milestone in the city’s journey towards cleanliness and sustainability.
