Air India Unveils ‘Safety Mudra’: A Cultural Odyssey in Inflight Safety

Air India, now under the Tata Group’s umbrella, has launched an enchanting inflight safety video titled ‘Safety Mudra,’ showcasing the diverse dance traditions of India in a celebration of cultural richness.

Inspired by the nation’s cultural heritage, the video seamlessly integrates safety instructions with eight distinct dance forms, including Bharatnatyam, Bihu, Kathak, Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Odissi, Ghoomar, and Giddha.

This meticulously crafted video serves as a cultural extravaganza, immersing passengers in the vibrant tapestry of Indian art. By incorporating safety information with the art of mudras (hand gestures) used in classical and folk dances, Air India aims to provide an immersive and informative experience to passengers.

‘Safety Mudras’ is a collaborative effort involving Prasoon Joshi from McCann Worldgroup, musician Shankar Mahadevan, and film director Bharatbala. This artistic endeavor reflects Air India’s commitment to being a cultural ambassador, introducing passengers to the richness of Indian traditions.

Each featured dance form in the video serves a dual purpose by presenting specific safety instructions while showcasing the cultural diversity of different regions in India. Passengers can expect to receive vital safety information in a visually engaging and culturally enriched manner.

Campbell Wilson, CEO & MD of Air India, expressed the airline’s joy in presenting an artwork that not only imparts essential safety guidelines but also extends a warm welcome to India.

The video is initially available on Air India’s A350 aircraft, equipped with advanced inflight entertainment screens, and will be gradually introduced across the entire fleet.

Air India’s ‘Safety Mudra’ stands as a unique and innovative approach to inflight safety, fusing cultural heritage with essential information.

The video not only ensures passenger safety but also serves as a window into India’s artistic richness. By featuring a spectrum of traditional dance forms, Air India aims to make the inflight safety experience more engaging and memorable for passengers, setting a new standard in aviation safety demonstrations.
