Air India Express and AirAsia India Introduce Unaccompanied Minor Service for Safe Travel

New Delhi, August 24, 2023: Air India Express and AirAsia India have collaboratively launched a specialized service for young travelers, known as the Unaccompanied Minor (UMNR) service. This service is designed for children aged between five (5) and twelve (12) years, offering a secure and dedicated travel option on all direct routes. What was initially available only on international flights has now been expanded to include domestic sectors as well. This expansion aims to provide parents and guardians with the assurance of their children’s safety and comfort during their journey, ensuring a hassle-free and enjoyable travel experience. Bookings for the Unaccompanied Minor service can be made through the official website, airindiaexpress.com, or at airport sales counters, with prices starting from ₹5,000.

The Unaccompanied Minor service is meticulously designed to provide comprehensive assistance to young flyers. From the moment of arrival at the terminal before security checks, airline staff will offer personal attention and guide them through all necessary airport procedures. For verification purposes, both the child and the accompanying parent or guardian must possess valid photo identification documents during departure and arrival. Additionally, the parent or guardian is required to accompany the child to the airport, ensuring their arrival at least 2 hours before the scheduled departure for domestic flights. Upon arrival, the airline staff will continue to assist the child until they are safely reunited with their parent or guardian.

Ankur Garg, Chief Commercial Officer, emphasized, “Our commitment to enhancing the travel experience for our passengers remains steadfast. By extending the Unaccompanied Minor service to cover all domestic sectors, we aim to provide young solo travelers with a comfortable and welcoming flying experience. The well-being of our young flyers is our top priority, and our dedicated staff will ensure a seamless and secure journey from check-in to arrival.”

The introduction of the unaccompanied minor service is a recent addition to the comprehensive range of integrated products and services offered by Air India Express and AIX Connect as they move forward with their merger. The airlines are renowned for their in-flight dining brand, ‘Gourmair’, which presents a delightful selection of oven-hot meals, including special options for kids, healthy choices, vegan and Jain preferences, MasterChef Specials, Regional Favorites, All-Day Breakfast, Seasonal Fruits, Lite Bites, and Tempting Desserts.

In addition, the airlines’ in-flight entertainment platform, AirFlix, will captivate young travelers with a variety of customized selections, including games, educational content, articles, and more. AirFlix promises to keep young explorers engaged and entertained throughout their journey, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to their travel experience.
