Agra to Gwalior in Just 1.5 Hours: Greenfield Expressway Project Set to Transform Connectivity

In a significant stride towards enhancing regional connectivity, the Indian National Highways Authority (NHAI) has submitted a proposal to the government for the Agra Gwalior Greenfield Expressway. This ambitious project aims to streamline travel between Agra and Gwalior, providing a faster and more efficient route for commuters.

Enhanced Connectivity with Agra Gwalior Greenfield Expressway:

Agra, already well-connected with two expressways – the Agra Lucknow Expressway and the Yamuna Expressway – is set to further fortify its transportation network with the proposed Agra Gwalior Greenfield Expressway. This new infrastructure project promises to make travel between these two cities even more convenient and time-effective.

Proposal for Land Acquisition:

The NHAI has taken a crucial step in moving the project forward by issuing a notice under Section 3A for the acquisition of 117.83 hectares of land. The proposed acquisition spans three tehsils of the Agra district – Tehsil Sadar, Fatehabad, and Kheragarh – covering 15 villages. The proposal is currently awaiting approval from the state government, marking a crucial milestone in the expressway’s development.

Travel Time Reduction Between the Two Cities:

Currently, traversing the 121-kilometer distance between Agra and Gwalior takes approximately two and a half hours. With the introduction of the Agra Gwalior Greenfield Expressway, this travel time is anticipated to be significantly reduced by one hour. The expressway, spanning 88.40 kilometers, will feature six lanes, promising a smoother and faster journey between these two vital cities.

The proposed expressway is poised to bring about transformative changes in regional connectivity, benefitting commuters and contributing to economic and social development in the region.
