After drawing blank in 2018, BJP to gain in North Chhattisgarh at Congress’ cost

New Delhi, Nov 30 , In the crucial Assembly elections in Chhattisgarh, the ruling Congress is projected to lose ground in the North Chhattisgarh region, ABP-CVoter Exit Poll predicted on Thursday.

In 2018, the ruling Congress had won all the 14 seats in the North Chhattisgarh region. However, this time the ruling party is projected to win just seven seats, as per the Exit Poll. The BJP, on the other hand, is expected to win seven seats after drawing a blank in the region in 2018.

The Exit Poll predicted that the vote share of the Congress is likely to dip from 46.7 per cent in 2018 to 41.8 per cent this time, a negative swing of 4.9 per cent.

The vote share of the BJP is likely to jump from 32.8 per cent in 2018 to 44 per cent this time, a positive swing of 11.2 per cent.

The Congress, which campaigned aggressively in the run-up to the elections, is eyeing a second consecutive term in the state, while the BJP is also hoping to come back to power in the mineral rich state.

Counting of votes for the 90-member Assembly will take place on December 3.
