75th Republic Day Parade Celebrates Women Power and Cultural Unity

As India marks its 75th Republic Day today, the parade at Kartavya Path in the national capital promises to be a ‘women-centric’ spectacle, underscoring the pivotal roles played by women in diverse sectors. The event pays homage to the adoption of the constitution on January 26, 1950, and the nation’s journey towards sovereignty.

This year’s Republic Day theme, ‘Viksit Bharat’ and ‘Bharat: Loktantra ki Matruka,’ signifies India’s aspirations and its role as a nurturer of democracy. Defence Secretary Giridhar Aramane highlighted that the parade’s major chunk would feature women marching contingents, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s belief that ‘India is truly a mother of democracy.’

The parade, set to begin at 10:30 a.m., will last for around 90 minutes, featuring an unprecedented women-led Tri-Service contingent and CAPF contingent. Notably, 100 women artists playing Indian musical instruments will herald the parade, showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage.

For the third consecutive year, the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Culture will present ‘Vande Bharatam,’ a cultural extravaganza focusing on ‘Cultural expression of women power- accomplishment through resolve.’ Around 1,500 female dancers will convey a message of unity in diversity.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the nation in paying tribute to fallen heroes at the National War Memorial before heading to Kartavya Path. French President Emmanuel Macron will be the chief guest, with a 95-member marching contingent and a 33-member band from France participating in the parade.

The parade will feature 25 tableaux representing 16 states/UTs and nine ministries/departments, chosen by an expert committee comprising eminent personalities in various fields. The Ministry of Culture will showcase ‘Anant Sutra– The Endless Thread,’ a textile installation celebrating India’s iconic saree, featuring QR codes for details on weaving and embroidery arts.

Approximately 13,000 special guests from diverse backgrounds have been invited, providing an opportunity for people from all walks of life to witness the vibrant facets of the country.

As India celebrates its 75th Republic Day, this unique and women-centric parade emphasizes the integral role of women in India’s progress and cultural identity.
