Sculpting Divinity: Arun Yogiraj’s Artistic Voyage from Adi Shankaracharya to Ram Lalla

In the sacred realm of Ayodhya, a sculptor’s artistry is set to find its eternal abode. Arun Yogiraj, a skilled artisan from Mysuru, has been bestowed with the honor of crafting the idol of Ram Lalla for installation in the Ram Temple. This sculptural marvel, capturing the divine essence in a child-like form, marks a significant milestone in Arun’s artistic journey.

Born into a family deeply rooted in the tradition of sculpture, Arun Yogiraj was inspired by his father, Yogiraj, and his grandfather, Basavanna Shilpi. Despite briefly venturing into the corporate sector after obtaining an MBA degree, the allure of sculpting drew him back in 2008, and there has been no turning back since.

Arun’s artistry has evolved over the years, earning him recognition on a national scale. His diverse portfolio boasts awe-inspiring sculptures, each a testament to his unwavering dedication. Among his notable creations is a towering 30-feet statue of Subhash Chandra Bose, standing proudly behind the Amar Jawan Jyoti near India Gate. The spiritual landscapes of Kedarnath witnessed the rise of a 12-feet tall sculpture of Adi Shankaracharya, and Mysore is adorned with a majestic 21-feet tall Hanuman statue—all crafted by the skilled hands of Arun Yogiraj.

The intricacy and symbolism of his work go beyond the physical form, aiming to convey the profound divinity of the incarnations depicted. Despite the lack of official communication about the acceptance of his creation for Ayodhya’s Ram Temple, several BJP leaders have taken to social media, heralding Arun Yogiraj’s work as a testament to his exceptional talent.

As the nation eagerly anticipates the completion of the Ram Temple and the consecration of Arun Yogiraj’s creation, it is clear that his artistic journey has been nothing short of remarkable. From the spiritual heights of Kedarnath to the historic grounds of Ayodhya, Arun Yogiraj continues to shape faith and inspire devotion through his masterful sculptures.
