In an eagerly anticipated revelation, OnePlus has officially announced the launch date for its upcoming flagship, the OnePlus 12. With a slew of confirmed specifications, the smartphone is set to make its debut in China on December 4, coinciding with OnePlus’ 10th-anniversary celebration. The company has already dropped enticing details about the device, fueling excitement among tech enthusiasts.

The launch in China was confirmed by Li Jie Louis, the head of OnePlus, via Weibo. While the specifics of the India launch are yet to be disclosed, historical patterns suggest an eventual debut in one of OnePlus’ key markets. Given the brand’s consistent presence in India, the OnePlus 12 is likely to arrive in the country, potentially in early 2024.

The OnePlus 11 made its debut in India in February 2023, and considering past releases, the OnePlus 12’s global launch could be slated for January next year. Although unconfirmed by OnePlus, enthusiasts can expect a comprehensive glimpse of the next-generation smartphone well before its Indian launch.

In the run-up to the OnePlus 12 launch, the company has already teased some key specifications. Notably, the device will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a powerhouse expected to feature in several flagship phones of 2024. Additionally, OnePlus has opted for BOE’s cutting-edge LTPO OLED display, named the X1 Oriental Screen, boasting a 2K resolution and a peak brightness of 2,600nits. The display has earned a DisplayMate A+ rating, ensuring top-notch visual performance.

Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, shared insights on Weibo about the OnePlus 12’s camera capabilities, specifically highlighting the inclusion of a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto lens. Although further details remain undisclosed, leaks suggest the potential use of an OmniVision OV64B sensor, offering up to 3x optical zoom. OnePlus has released camera samples showcasing the prowess of this periscope zoom camera, emphasizing its low-light imaging capabilities.

Leaks also hint at a triple rear camera setup, featuring a 50-megapixel Sony LYT-808 sensor with OIS, a 50-megapixel ultrawide Sony IMX581 sensor, and the aforementioned 64-megapixel 3x telephoto zoom lens. The front camera is anticipated to be a 32-megapixel selfie sensor.

As expected from a OnePlus flagship, the device may include a signature alert slider and an in-display fingerprint scanner for secure biometric authentication. The powerhouse within the OnePlus 12 is speculated to be a 5,400mAh battery, supported by 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging technology.

With the official launch date drawing near, anticipation is building for the OnePlus 12, promising a blend of cutting-edge features and technological advancements.
