In an exciting turn of events at the EMMTC – MSLTA Asian Under-14 Tennis Championship in Aurangabad, Maharashtra, fifth-seeded Varad Undre and unseeded Shivraj Jadhav caused upsets by defeating higher-ranked opponents to secure spots in the boys’ semifinals. The tournament is organized by the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA) and Endurance under the auspices of the Asian Tennis Federation (ATF) and the All India Tennis Association (AITA).
In a thrilling quarterfinal match, Varad Undre upset the second-seeded Ishaan Yadlapalli with a convincing scoreline of 6-3, 6-2. Meanwhile, Shivraj Jadhav, who was unseeded, emerged victorious against the eighth-seeded Manan Rai with a hard-fought battle, securing a 5-7, 6-2, 6-2 victory. Other boys making it to the last four include top-seeded Shounak Suvarna and Rhunmaan M Mahesh.
In the girls’ section, top-seeded A. Ahana, second-seeded Shreeniti Chowdhary, third-seeded Shivani Gupte, and fourth-seeded Karthika Padmakumar showcased their prowess, advancing to the semifinal stage.
