Western Maharashtra Shines in Sustainable Initiatives: Over 1.7 Lakh Embrace MSEDCL’s ‘Go-Green’ Scheme

In a commendable display of environmental consciousness, Western Maharashtra emerges as a leader in the ‘Go-Green’ initiative introduced by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). A staggering 1,72,450 electricity consumers in the region have enthusiastically chosen to receive their bills exclusively through email and SMS, completely eliminating the need for printed paper bills. This concerted effort has not only contributed to environmental preservation but also resulted in substantial annual savings amounting to Rs 2 crore 6 lakh 94 thousand.

As part of MSEDCL’s ‘Go-Green’ scheme, a total of 4,35,902 electricity consumers across the state have actively participated. Western Maharashtra claims the top spot with 39.6 percent of consumers embracing this eco-friendly initiative. Pune district takes the lead within the region, boasting 1,15,435 participants.

Under the ‘Go-Green’ scheme, participating consumers enjoy an annual savings of Rs 120 on their electricity bills. The system ensures that electricity bills are promptly delivered via email as soon as they are generated, accompanied by additional bill information through SMS. This streamlined process facilitates quick and hassle-free online bill payments.

The modernized ‘Go-Green’ scheme aligns with contemporary lifestyles while also prioritizing environmental sustainability. Participants can access detailed information about their current and past electricity bills, payment receipts, and more through the MSEDCL mobile app and website (http://www.mahadiscom.in). While the use of paper bills is eradicated, consumers can still maintain a soft copy of their monthly bills on their computers for reference. Moreover, the website provides access to the original forms of current and previous 11 months’ electricity bills, which consumers can download or print as needed.
