In a remarkable celebration of the 350th year of Hindavi Swarajya, the “Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangh” orchestrated a monumental event, unfurling the Indian tricolor and saffron flags across more than 350 forts in Maharashtra and Karnataka. The event, held on January 26, 2024, coincided with the Indian Republic Day, signifying a powerful homage to the historical significance of Shivaji Maharaj and the enduring legacy of Hindavi Swarajya.
Over ten thousand Shivpremis, fervently devoted to the ideals of Shivaji Maharaj, actively participated in the event. Notable attendees included representatives from the central government’s archaeology department, the state government’s archaeology department, local police administration, and various government officials, contributing to the grandeur of the occasion.
The leadership of the Akhil Maharashtra Giryarohan Mahasangha, including President Umesh Zirpe, Executive President Rishikesh Yadav, Secretary Dr Rahul Varange, Joint Secretary Rahul Meshram, and Treasurer Deepali Bhosale, played pivotal roles in ensuring the event’s success.
This historic event was a collaborative effort involving district branches of the Mahasangha, climbing organizations, and Shivpremi groups. The responsibility of hoisting flags on forts was distributed among various participating organizations, resulting in a widespread and impactful commemoration. The reach of this event extended beyond Maharashtra, welcoming Shivpremis from across the country and even globally, with 173 organizations from Maharashtra and Karnataka actively participating.
Umesh Jhirpe, the President of the Mahasangha, remarked, “Shri Shiv Chhatrapati is an inspiration for us all. He laid the foundation for the all-encompassing Hindavi Swarajya. Today, Indian democracy stands firmly on the shoulders of this mighty legacy.” Expressing gratitude for the overwhelming response from Shivpremis, he highlighted the unprecedented success of the event.
