Tragedy Strikes: 19-Year-Old Police Aspirant Takes Life Amid Allegations of Humiliation at Training Academy

In a heartbreaking incident, Leena Patil, a 19-year-old aspiring police recruit at Garud Zep Career Academy in Bajaj Nagar, took her own life, citing alleged humiliation and abuse at the hands of the academy’s director. The incident has prompted a police investigation and raised concerns about the mental well-being of students at the training institution.

Tragic Discovery and Disturbing Allegations: Suicide at Garud Zep Career Academy

Leena’s lifeless body was discovered in the hostel bathroom on Tuesday morning, sending shockwaves through Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. Her father, in a filed complaint at MIDC Walaj Police Station, accused the academy’s director, Nilesh Sonwane, of subjecting Leena to humiliation and verbal abuse. The complaint details a distressing account of mistreatment that allegedly pushed Leena to take such a drastic step.

Financial Investment and Emotional Toll: Allegations of Deception and Insults

Leena’s dream of securing a government job led her to invest a significant amount—1 lakh 20 thousand rupees—in three stages for training at Garud Zep Academy. Additionally, she paid a monthly fee of 4500 rupees for mess services. The complaint suggests that Leena faced insults and derogatory comments about her skin color from Nilesh Sonwane, the academy’s director.

Leena’s father alleges that she would call him to report the denial of breakfast if mess payments were delayed. The director’s insulting behavior, as per the complaint, was not isolated to Leena but extended to other female students.

Dismissive Responses and Drastic Consequences: Alleged Challenges and Abetment to Suicide

The filed complaint indicates that Leena had expressed concerns about being deceived by Nilesh Sonwane, who allegedly responded dismissively, challenging her to take her own life if she believed her accusations. The father contends that the cumulative impact of humiliation and insults led Leena to make the tragic decision.

Legal Action and Investigation: Case Registered Against Garud Zep Career Academy Director

In response to the shocking incident, a case has been registered against five individuals, including Nilesh Sonwane, the director of Garud Zep Career Academy. The charges include abetment to suicide and mistreatment. The police are expected to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter, shedding light on the circumstances that led to this devastating loss.
