Sena UBT Firm on Sangli Seat Amid Alliance Strains

Sanjay Raut Reiterates Shiv Sena’s Stand as Congress Alliance Faces Seat Sharing Dilemma”

In the midst of mounting tensions within the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, Shiv Sena Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut reaffirmed the party’s resolve to contest the Sangli Lok Sabha seat. Raut’s statements come amidst a backdrop of intricate negotiations and strategic maneuvers within the political landscape.

Raut’s three-day tour to Sangli aimed at galvanizing party workers coincides with ongoing seat sharing disagreements between the Congress and UBT. Despite Congress leaders in Sangli district abstaining from meetings, Raut remained steadfast in asserting the Sena’s claim over the Sangli constituency.

“We are committed to contesting the Sangli seat, and we assure Vishal Patil of a parliamentary nomination,” stated Raut, indicating the Sena’s strategic intentions.

Raut defended the Sena’s stance on Sangli, drawing parallels with previous instances where the party had demonstrated flexibility. However, Congress leaders in Sangli maintained a cautious approach, refraining from endorsing the Sena’s assertions until directives from the party high command.

Congress MLA Vishwajeet Kadam, along with Vishal Patil, sought an audience with party leaders in Delhi to convey the sentiments of local workers to the party hierarchy. Kadam’s visit to Delhi underscores the importance of resolving the seat sharing deadlock amidst growing discontent within the alliance.

The discord between the coalition partners has intensified, with Kadam’s recent absence from party meetings highlighting underlying tensions. The unilateral announcement of wrestler Chandrahar Patil’s candidature by UBT further strained relations, prompting Kadam to distance himself from campaign committee activities.

As the election fervor escalates, the MVA alliance faces significant challenges in reconciling conflicting interests and ensuring a unified front in the electoral battle.
