Samruddhi Expressway Expansion: 25 km Stretch from Bharvir to Igatpuri Set to Open on March 4

In a significant development, a 25-kilometer stretch of the Samruddhi Mahamarg expressway, connecting Bharvir to Igatpuri town, is slated to open around March 4, according to an official statement from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).

This particular section stands out for its complexity, boasting a combination of a flyover, bridges, Venture over Bridge (VOB), twin tunnels measuring 300 meters each, and a crossing of the old Mumbai-Nashik Highway. Initially targeted for a mid-February opening, the revised deadline is now March 4 due to the completion of minor pending works.

The Samruddhi Mahamarg, a monumental expressway spanning 701 kilometers and linking Nagpur to Mumbai, has already opened 600 kilometers to traffic. The expressway’s phased inauguration began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiling the 520-kilometer stretch between Nagpur and Shirdi in December 2022. Subsequently, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde inaugurated the section between Shirdi and Bharvir in May 2023.

The upcoming opening of the Bharvir to Igatpuri stretch marks another significant milestone in the Samruddhi Mahamarg project, enhancing connectivity and reducing travel time for commuters in the region.
