Passenger Protest at Patas Railway Station Prompts Demand for Foot Overbridge

Railway passengers at Patas railway station expressed their frustration and warned of a potential Rail Roko protest due to the absence of a Foot Overbridge (FOB) at the station. The situation escalated today when the Daund-Pune shuttle (train no 01524) was halted for 25 to 30 minutes, with commuters staging a strike against the Railway Administration for the lack of an FOB.

MLA Rahul Kul has called upon the authorities to initiate the construction of an FOB at the earliest to address the hardships faced by commuters at Patas Railway Station. The Pune Gramin Railway Pravasi Group highlighted the urgent need for an FOB, pointing out that the Gati Shakti Cargo Goods Terminal was constructed in a short period with various facilities, while the demand for an FOB has been pending for several years.

According to a member of the Pune Gramin Railway Pravasi Group, the construction of an FOB at Patas Railway Station is a straightforward and minor task, considering the station’s crowded nature and daily commuting. Currently, passengers, especially male commuters, resort to crossing the railway platforms using railway couplings, while female passengers navigate under the stopped trains. The absence of an FOB poses safety concerns, and the demand for its construction has gained urgency.
