New Common Entrance Test (CET) Introduced for BCA/BBA/BMS/BBM Admissions

Students aspiring to pursue undergraduate courses in BCA, BBA, BMS, and BBM will encounter a new requirement as the academic year 2024-25 kicks off: the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission. Commencing from Thursday, March 21, 2024, the application process for the CET is now open, mandating all prospective candidates to undertake this standardized test.

In a bid to streamline the admissions process and ensure fairness, the State Common Entrance Examination Board has made available the CET syllabus and information booklet on its official website, www.mahacet.org. This move aims to provide students, alongside their parents and educational institutions, with comprehensive resources to adequately prepare for the upcoming test.

While the exact dates for the CET are yet to be finalized, candidates are encouraged to stay updated by regularly checking the official website for announcements and any pertinent updates regarding the examination schedule.

Reflecting on the significance of implementing the CET for undergraduate admissions, Professor Jateen Shah, a notable figure in the field of education, highlighted the increasing competitiveness at the undergraduate level. “The introduction of the CET marks a notable shift, as standardized testing was traditionally associated with professional and post-graduate courses. This move underscores the growing emphasis on academic rigor and standardized evaluation,” Professor Shah remarked.

However, concerns have been raised regarding the potential financial burden on students, particularly with regards to preparation for the new CET. It is anticipated that some private coaching classes may capitalize on this requirement by charging exorbitant fees for preparatory courses.

As students and educational stakeholders adapt to this new paradigm in undergraduate admissions, the focus remains on ensuring accessibility, fairness, and transparency throughout the application and testing process.
