Nagpur’s RSS HQ Designated ‘No-Drone’ Zone Amid Rising Security Threats

In response to potential security threats, the Nagpur police have declared the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters in Nagpur a “no-drone” zone and imposed a ban on photography and videography of the premises until March 28. The RSS headquarters, situated in the Mahal area of Maharashtra’s Nagpur city, is now subject to strict regulations to safeguard against unauthorized documentation.

Joint Commissioner of Police Aswathi Dorje issued an order on Sunday under Section 144 (1) (3) of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), highlighting the densely populated surroundings of the RSS HQ. The area is encircled by hotels, lodges, and coaching classes, making it susceptible to individuals taking pictures, videos, or employing drone videography, potentially posing a threat to the headquarters.

Dorje emphasized the need for precautionary measures in the order, stating, “Therefore, I am prohibiting the taking of pictures, videos, or drone photography in the area,” as reported by PTI. Violation of this order will result in legal consequences under Indian Penal Code Section 188, which pertains to disobedience to orders duly promulgated by public servants.

The enforcement of this ban is scheduled to remain in effect from January 29 to March 28, 2024. The move comes as a measure to secure the RSS headquarters and maintain the privacy and safety of the densely populated locality surrounding it.

In light of this development, the authorities are urging citizens to adhere to the prohibition to avoid legal consequences and ensure the security of the RSS headquarters.
