MSRDC Completes Land Survey for Nagpur-Goa Expressway, Paving the Way for Swift Development

The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has achieved a significant milestone with the completion of the land survey for the Shaktipeeth Expressway, connecting Nagpur and Goa. Kailash Jadhav, Joint Managing Director of MSRDC, announced that the land acquisition and compensatory processes would commence shortly, marking a crucial step forward in the development of this transformative infrastructure project.

The Nagpur-Goa expressway, spanning a total distance of 800 km and passing through 12 districts, is expected to provide direct connectivity between the two locations, substantially reducing travel time from 21 hours to 11 hours. Beyond being an essential infrastructure development, the expressway encompasses various Hindu pilgrimage sites, including two jyotirlingas – Parli Vaijnath and Aundh Naganath (Nageshwar) – located in the Hingoli district.

Furthermore, the expressway will link to Mahur Renu Devi temple, Tuljabhavani in Tuljapur, Vitthal Rakhumai temple of Pandharpur, Mahalaxmi temple of Kolhapur, and Goa’s Patradevi temple. This strategic connectivity aims to enhance accessibility to these popular religious destinations, promoting religious tourism in the region.

Designed as a greenfield project with an estimated cost of Rs 86,000 crore, the Nagpur-Goa expressway is not only a crucial transportation link but also a potential catalyst for economic development and tourism in the connected regions.

As the land survey concludes, MSRDC is set to initiate the land acquisition and compensatory processes shortly, bringing the state one step closer to the realization of this ambitious project.
