Maharashtra Government Unveils Plan to Clear Encroachments from Religious Sites

In a recent district planning meeting in Gadchiroli, Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced a comprehensive plan to eliminate encroachments on religious sites across Maharashtra. This strategic move is part of a phased approach aimed at reclaiming and preserving the sanctity of these sacred places.

Fadnavis emphasized the systematic addressing of encroachments on religious grounds, assuring that the removal process would unfold gradually. The government’s commitment to ensuring the free and unobstructed use of religious spaces aligns with its dedication to upholding the cultural and spiritual heritage of the state.

The Deputy Chief Minister also touched upon the government’s efforts to establish an airport in Gadchiroli district, emphasizing the potential for improved connectivity and infrastructure development in the region. The proposed airport is seen as a strategic move to boost economic activities and facilitate easier access to the district.

Gadchiroli district, predominantly tribal, has witnessed the initiation of various government-backed industries, positioning it to become an industrial hub. With the state government’s focus on maximizing funds for the district, initiatives such as the airport project and the establishment of a government medical college are underway.

During the District Planning Committee meeting, discussions addressed questions related to Forest Department land and resolved issues concerning the electricity department to allocate more funds for the district’s development.

Fadnavis revealed plans for the commencement of the first phase of the Kondsari project and laid the foundation for the second project, estimated at Rs 20,000 crore, emphasizing the government’s commitment to advancing regional growth and connectivity.

As Maharashtra charts a path towards reclaiming religious spaces and undertaking crucial infrastructure projects, the announcement by Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis reflects a significant stride in balancing cultural preservation with regional development.
