Maharashtra Cooperative Department Enforces Swift Resolution of Housing Society Complaints Online

In a significant move towards streamlining complaint resolution for housing societies, the Maharashtra Cooperation and Registrar (Cooperative Societies) department has mandated deputy registrars to resolve all online complaints within a stipulated period of two months.

Digambar Hausare, Deputy Registrar of Pune 40, revealed that detailed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been provided by the Maharashtra Co-operation Department, emphasizing the need to address citizens’ online complaints promptly. Speaking to Pune Pulse, Hausare highlighted the ongoing success of the complaint resolution process, with approximately 80 to 85 out of 100 online complaints already resolved within his jurisdiction. The remaining complaints are expected to be addressed shortly.

The online complaint portal, Sahakar Samvad, launched in October of the previous year, aims to facilitate society members in filing complaints conveniently. With 23 distinct categories of issues listed on the portal, approximately 1,700 complaints have been submitted so far, with 1,104 successfully resolved.

While the online portal serves as a convenient platform for society residents, officials from the Cooperation and Registrar (Cooperative Societies) department acknowledge the importance of SOPs in expediting complaint processing for deputy registrars.

Charuhas Kulkarni, Chairman of Pune District Cooperative Housing Societies Federation, Pimple Saudagar Branch, expressed optimism about the benefits for housing society residents. He emphasized that the online portal eliminates the need for residents to visit the registrar’s office to file complaints. Kulkarni highlighted the complexity of resolving different types of complaints and affirmed that the portal underscores the significance of complaint resolution for deputy registrars, encouraging swift and accountable action.

Additionally, Kulkarni credited the active involvement of the Maharashtra State Co-operative Housing Societies Federation and various District-level Cooperative Housing Societies Federations across Maharashtra in the development and functioning of the online complaint portal.
