Maharashtra Cabinet Greenlights Rs 5000 Cr Proposal for Improved Road Connectivity

Mumbai, August 18: The Maharashtra cabinet has granted its approval to a substantial proposal worth Rs 5000 crore aimed at enhancing road connectivity. The scheme, known as the Bhagwan Birsa Munda Jod road scheme, is set to connect all tribal villages and settlements across the state’s 17 districts with the main road network.

Chaired by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the state cabinet meeting held in Mumbai on Friday saw the green light for this ambitious project. In addition to the road connectivity initiative, several other key decisions were made during the meeting.

One such decision involves the introduction of a ration kit called ‘Anandacha Sida’ priced at Rs 100. This ration kit will be made available ahead of the upcoming festivals of Ganapati and Diwali. Cardholders will receive one kilogram each of semolina, chana dal (split chickpeas), sugar, and cooking oil.

Furthermore, the state cabinet has given its nod for a significant hike in tuition fees for artisan apprentices undergoing training in Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs). The existing monthly fee of Rs 400 will be raised to Rs 500.

Among the other matters addressed during the meeting, the cabinet sanctioned the redevelopment of the Mumbai Press Club. Additionally, the Maharashtra Casino Act has been repealed. The state also resolved to undertake a Nutrition Campaign Program as directed by the Central Government, with an increase in the state’s contribution to the initiative.
