In a significant development, Health Minister Tanaji Sawant virtually inaugurated 27 haemophilia daycare centres in Maharashtra on Monday. With this launch, every district in the state is now equipped with a dedicated facility to provide timely treatment to patients dealing with the blood-clotting disorder, haemophilia, in their home districts.
The inauguration event included the addition of new centres in Raigad, Palghar, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Beed, Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli, Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri, Jalna, Nanded, Latur, Dharashiv, Akola, Washim, Yavatmal, Gondia, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, and Pune. These centres supplement the existing ones in Thane, Nashik, Satara, Amravati, Ahmednagar, Chatrapati Sambhajinagar, Pune (Sassoon hospital), and Mumbai.
The initiative aims to ensure that individuals dealing with haemophilia can access timely and specialized care within their home districts, eliminating the need for travel to major cities for treatment. This move is expected to significantly enhance healthcare accessibility for patients and improve overall health outcomes.
Tanaji Sawant’s Vision: Health Minister Tanaji Sawant highlighted the importance of decentralizing haemophilia care to ensure widespread access to treatment. “With the virtual inauguration of 27 haemophilia daycare centres, we are bringing advanced healthcare closer to the people. This will enable patients across Maharashtra to receive timely care, reducing the burden of travel and promoting better health outcomes,” stated Sawant.
