Kirnotsav: A Divine Celebration at Ambabai Temple in Kolhapur

Karveer Nivasini Ambabai’s Kirnotsav is a much-anticipated event that is set to commence on Thursday, November 9, and continue until November 13. Just as it does every year, Kirnotsav is expected to draw massive crowds, eager to witness the mesmerizing spectacle.

According to the latest information, experts have meticulously examined the intensity of the sun’s rays and have come to the conclusion that the sun rays are poised to reach the brass shadow of the temple’s idol on Wednesday, November 8. To determine this, the distance of the rays, wind speed, and the direction of the rays were scrutinized with the aid of advanced instruments like a telescope, anemometer, and magnetometer.

Wednesday is expected to be a significant day when the sun’s rays will gently touch the brass shadow and permeate the sanctum sanctorum, marking the beginning of this grand festival.

Kirnotsav, which spans five days, is celebrated during the month of November. This unique festival revolves around the awe-inspiring phenomenon where the rays of the setting sun make their way into the hallowed Ambabai temple through the Mahadwara. As each day progresses, the rays move closer to the idol of Ambabai: on the first day, they touch the idol, on the second day they reach up to the waist, and on the third day, the sun’s rays finally grace the face, concluding this extraordinary celestial event.

The Kirnotsav at Ambabai Temple is not just a religious tradition but a remarkable natural phenomenon that captivates all who witness it. The convergence of faith, science, and nature makes this celebration a truly unique and awe-inspiring experience for visitors from near and far.
