The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) is celebrating a Diwali windfall, recording a remarkable income of Rs 4 Crores in just three days. The surge in revenue reflects the extensive travel demand witnessed during the festive season, showcasing the enduring popularity of State Transport (ST) buses.
Festive Travel Dynamics:
Responding to the heightened passenger rush, the Corporation strategically deployed around 515 additional buses to cater to the increased demand. Despite the expanded services, buses experienced substantial crowding, emphasizing the widespread reliance on ST buses for festive travel.
‘Lal Pari’ Connects Maharashtra:
Fondly known as ‘Lal Pari,’ ST buses connect various destinations across Maharashtra, operating from key locations like Swargate, Shivajinagar, Pune station, and Pimpri Chinchwad city in the Pune district. Marathwada and Vidarbha witnessed a high influx of passengers, with notable crowds observed on routes to Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara.
Revenue Breakdown:
The Pune Division of the ST reported a robust income of Rs. 1 crore 33 lakhs on November 10, followed by Rs. 1 crore 36 lakhs on November 11. Post-Lakshmi Pujan, November 12, contributed an income of Rs. 1 crore 13 lakhs. As bookings for the upcoming eight days, including November 13 and 14, are reported to be fully booked, it signals sustained travel demand post-Diwali.
