Digital Empowerment: Maharashtra to Establish Computer Hubs in All Districts

In a significant stride towards enhancing digital infrastructure and online education, the Maharashtra state government has allocated a substantial fund of ₹60 crore to establish multipurpose computer centers in every district across the state. These centers will play a pivotal role in promoting technology-driven education, training, and online assessments, furthering the state’s commitment to educational advancement.

Digital Empowerment for Education

The decision to create these computer centers aligns with the National Education Policy of 2020, emphasizing the need for robust digital infrastructure in education. These centers are designed to serve as e-libraries and study hubs, enabling students and educators to harness the full potential of digital resources.

Multipurpose Centers Across Districts

Each computer center will boast the capacity to accommodate between 50 to 150 computers, ensuring accessibility to a broad audience. These centers will not only facilitate access to educational content but also empower individuals with essential computer skills, bridging the digital divide that still affects a significant portion of the state’s population.

The Commitment to Education

The responsibility for the implementation of this ambitious initiative has been entrusted to Kailash Pagare, the state project director of the Maharashtra Primary Education Council. This significant allocation of resources underscores the government’s unwavering commitment to transforming education in Maharashtra, making it more accessible and technologically advanced.

Education Sector’s Perspective

Educators and experts in the education sector have lauded this decision, recognizing its potential to reach students who currently lack access to basic computer knowledge. Professor Kumar Mandake, the principal of a private school, commended the move, acknowledging the digital divide that persists in the state and the positive impact these computer centers can have.
