The adverse weather conditions, prevalent from late last night until the early morning today, led to reduced visibility along critical railway tracks, compelling trains to operate at much-reduced speeds of around 50-60 kmph, compared to their usual pace of 110 kmph.
Impacted Railway Sections: The fog-related disruptions affected various sections, including Mohol to Malikpeth near Solapur, Daund to Parewadi, Daund to Shrigonda, Daund to Kedgaon, Masur-Koregaon near Sangli, Satara section, and Salpa to Valha near Lonand. Poor visibility of signals due to the fog prompted cautious operations, resulting in substantial delays for several trains.
Notable Train Delays: Among the affected trains were the 18519 Express, 12701 Express, 11139 Express, 11013 Express, 16339 Express, 01024 Express, 17318 Express, 17411 Express, and 22226 Express. These trains experienced delays due to the prolonged foggy conditions persisting throughout the night and early morning.
Duration of Fog Impact: The foggy conditions persisted for approximately 8 hours, spanning from around 01:00 hrs to 09:15 hrs, significantly impacting the punctuality of train schedules in the affected regions.
Resumption of Normal Operations: As of 09:15 hrs in the morning, the fog has cleared from the aforementioned sections, enabling the resumption of normal railway operations. Indian Railways authorities advise passengers to stay informed about the latest information regarding train schedules as services return to regular operations following the clearance of fog in these areas.
